The night before Josh’s Bar Mitzvah, he enjoyed what sounded like a fabulous meal with family friends – chicken soup, more chicken, followed by apple cake and ice cream. This set him up well for his reading at Dianella Shule on the 3rd of September, when he read aloud sections 1, 2, 3 and 7 of the Parsha Shoftim. The Parsha involves (amongst other things) Moses reviewing the I ...

The Harris Post - Term 3, Week 10 - A Very busy Last Week of Term
Anybody who thinks that the youths of today are unable to communicate clearly wasn’t at the ¹ú±êÂ鶹ÊÓƵAPP Year 9 entrepreneurs’ pitch session this week. I was so impressed by our students’ ability to not only come up with an innovative entrepreneurial idea, but also to market and launch it. On offer were scented candles, glasses frames, electronic organising software, stationer ...

The Harris Post - Term 3, Week 9
As we near the end of the term, students and teachers are tired but working hard until the very end. As I write this post, the Year 12 students are immersed in their exams and many other students are working towards their final assessments before the holidays. The announcement of next Thursday’s unexpected public holiday resulted in a sleepless night for me, as I realised ther ...

The Harris Post - Term 3, Week 8
It has been a very busy couple of weeks for me and although not managing to write my post did lead to various personal guilt issues, I was gratified that several people noticed and asked why I had failed them in this respect. Having thought that my mum and sister were the only people who actually read it, it was pleasing to learn that this is not the case. My recent trip to Me ...

The Harris Post, Term 3, Week 5 - Security
I had occasion to think deeply about security this week, when the School Community Security Group (CSG) forwarded an article on the topic to me. The recent tensions in Israel meant that those who keep us safe at ¹ú±êÂ鶹ÊÓƵAPP were considering and discussing measures to ensure that we continue to enjoy the freedoms we are accustomed to in Perth. Far from being disturbed that thi ...
